I filed pro se and in the news they're saying the checks are going out a week early.I need this money to pay family members back.Should i hold on to the money until my meeting?I'm only getting $300 back.Filed ch 7: 3-31-08 Pro-se

Have you filed yet, and just waiting for your 341 hearing?? If you filed already did you include those family members as creditors in your petition? Paying them back might be considered insider/preferential payments - which is a big no-no.Comment

Once it's SPENT its gonna be awful hard for the Trustee to get his hands on it.....
Spend it before you file - for sure. If you have already filed, don't be surprised if the Trustee ask for it..... to them it's income for their creditors.Minny

He could ask for it.... Just be prepared to tell him what you spent it on.
If you used it on groceries, medicine, something needed fixed.... then more than likely he won't demand it back.Minny
