Now I'm nervous

Just retained my lawyer today. They were impressed with all the legwork I had done and said even though they have alot ahead of me, it's very possible for me to get in before the others because I have so much in order.

Now...I'm just nervous. I feel guilty like I've done something wrong. LOL

I feel like when it's time for the 341 meeting, It'll feel like I'm on trial. I know everyone says it's not bad at all....just still...the unknown is what kills me.

I still have a ways ahead of me. They still have to get the paperwork ready to file, and then file it. Then I just have to wait for the courts to give me my date. The only bad thing that I've heard is that they are alittle backed up. It's in big city...so I could imagine.

Any suggestions on how to ease this anxiety?

Is there anything else that I should do, or that maybe I'm forgetting?

stay busy, if your lawyer isnt worried about it you shouldn't be either if your bk is a straight one it wont be a big deal, my 341 was easy I worried for two months for nothing. I figured out real quick what one member on this forum has said many times. The trustee is a rich attorney that wants the big bucks and the property that wil surely make him and his creditors money. Be honest in your paperwork and you will be just fine. Keep in mind that Bk is a financial decision that you are making for your future. It is your legal right to file bk. Good Luck!!!

COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER. THE MORE PREPARED YOU ARE NOW, THE LESS YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LATER.
AGAIN, I WAS GLAD WE CHOSE THE ATTORNEY WE DID BECAUSE THE AMOUNT OF PAPERWORK SHE REQUIRED WAS THOROUGH, BUT IT WAS WELL WORTH THE TIME THAT IT TOOK TO DO IT. HOPEFULLY YOUR ATTORNEY WILL REQUIRE THE PAPERWORK ANTICIPATED FOR YOUR AREA. SHOULD BE SMOOTH SAILING. IT IS ALWAYS EASIER FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO SAY, IT ISN'T THAT BAD OR DON'T WORRY, BUT I AM SURE THEY ALL WORRIED WHEN IT WAS THEM. BUT I CAN SAY TIME WILL TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE.
HOPE ALL WORKS OUT WELL FOR YOU. I'M JUST WAITING FOR SEPTEMBER AND TRYING NOT TO CHECK PACER EVERYDAY.

Nothing wrong about feeling guilty about filing, most people do. Most of us was raised with the attitude that "you always pay your bills"......no matter what!
Circumstances beyond our control throw many people into BK that would never file otherwise. We are "fortunate" that society has allowed us this outlet so we can survive.

And then there are a few that "really play the system". You will see them file 2 or 3 times over their lifetime.

Be patient, don't panic, a simple Chapter 7 will be over quickly and Chapter 13 will be with you for 3-5 years paying it - but in the long run - filing will relieve a lot of the pressure that you are feeling.

So hang in there and wait it out,
