I currently am owed over $14000 in child support arrearages. I haven't seen a dime in years and years. I dont expect to ever see anything as there has been no contact with my ex husband in nearly 12 years.
My paperwork shows this amount as an asset and then it says NON COLLECTABLE
Not sure what this means exactly. I am in New York if that matters at all.
Can the trustee keep my case open forever in hopes that I ever receive this back child support?
It almost doesnt seem fair to my husband who has taken care of my daughter for 17 years if this is the case. He has never mentioned the child support(he considers himself her Dad) but does hope someday the ex wins the lottery and the proceeds go directly to us. ;)
I had not even considered this an issue till reading through some very old posts on this site. I really would hate to have this drag on for years while a trustee waits for something I gave up on about 8 years ago.
Any thoughts?
