341 today!!! Glad it is over!
WHEEWWW..............I am glad that is over. We had our 341 meeting today and I wanted to let everyone know how it went. We were seriously over stressed about this. It was no big deal. 
When we entered the courthouse parking was a bit scarce. Don't forget to bring money for the meter if your town has meters. We left my purse and our cell phones in the trunk (minus of course my S/S and DL). We proceeded to the courthouse (which looked very intimidating at the moment) and went inside. I placed my sunglasses in the tray and walked through the metal detector. My DH set it off like 3 times so they made him lift his pants legs and show his socks (YEA they matched...it was dark when we left the house so you never know
) We found our way to the proper room and there was a sign saying no food or drink in the hearing room. There was a soda machine and bathroom across the way though so I guess you could get something in the hallway. We went in and the trustee was sitting at the head of a long table with a computer and there were chairs on each side. There were also 4 rows of chairs on the side of the room. There must have been 20 or so people in the room waiting. We sat in the third row. It was just like church...no one sits in the front row. We even joked to ourselves that it was even more like church because you just knew there were people in there praying.
Our attorney could not be there today and arranged in advance to have another attorney represent him. We got there early and the trustee was having to wait for attorneys due to other meetings. We watched several 341's before ours. There were absolutely no creditors there. Some of the people tried to be vague and that did not sit well. The trustee seriously did not want time wasted by debtors being vague. We saw one case get continued because that persons attorney had messed up the paperwork so horribly that the trustee could not make sense of it. It pays to find an attorney that will do the paperwork right the first time.
There are so many people filing now that the trustee was complaining to another attorney about being over worked. It was EXTREMELY sad to watch the numerous elderly people who had to file BK. We watched one after another go up and talk with the trustee. One elderly guy looked like he might even have dementia or something wrong because he was trying so hard but just could not grasp all that was going on around him. It broke my heart.
The trustee was a bit rushed and running behind schedule, turned on the tape recorder and began. We were sworn in and we produced our S/S and DL and the trustee asked if everything was correct in the paperwork and made a joke about our assets (long story) and then said have a nice day. We stood up and thanked the substitute attorney, shook his hand and left.
We then went out for CHOCOLATE!!!!!
