    Stimulus Checks

I got my rebate check and it was half of what it was supposed to be. Mine plan was "Save half, Spend Half", now I can only save half. So they shot themselves in the foot with this deal! I have talked to a lot of people this happened to. Great Job IRS, Government and most important Lil' Bush!!!

If you owe any back taxes or child support they will dip into that rebate check and take what they need....... has happened to quite a few already....

I have no children and did not owe, I got back. They definitely cant say I made to much, considering I am on here, getting ready to file chapter 7 next month. Kind of funny to me.

up to $600 for a single person

UP TO is the key term

I was told $1500 from HR block when speaking to the IRS they confirmed $900
again it has to do with your personal income bracket

Yeah I didn't get 600 either it was less, I'm single, no children etc.....

The key is reading how the bill was written. It cannot be more than a certain amount (I think your tax liability in the past year). So really that means the poor get less than the amount.

              It's Official

              Hi All:

For us, it is official. We got a notice from the IRS today that our Stimulus check of $1,200.00 has been applied to the account balance that we owe for our 2007 Income Tax. That is fine; it really is what we expected to happen. I'm just surprised that it wasn't applied to what we owe for 2005. So that is that.

Of course, the notice goes on to say that in order to avoid any other penalty or interest on the amount owed, a check for $XXXX.XX should be paid in full by July 7, 2008.

              Yeah, Right...

I read that the Stimulus Refund was was "held" from a large precentage of people becuase of various government debts that were outstanding. An "exact" figure was reported but I cannot remember what is was off hand...but it was a hefty number.

The stimulous plan is a joke! It didn't work when Bush implemented the previous one back in '99/'00 and it won't work now.

Would of helped us this month as my husband's pay check was 615 after deductions. But the silly trustee decided that my stimulus was enough to convert us to an asset case. What sucks is that you are not allowed to have any money when you file BK and then are not allowed to build up a savings for emergency situations. Have no back up savings to pay the mortgage, no credit venues to temporarily help us out, and no wealthy family to lend us the moolah. Got some change in the bottom of my purse. Maybe I'll go buy a lottery ticket. Wait - If I win, the trustee will seize that also. Crap!

It seems like when you are down and out, everyone and everything keeps kicking you to make sure you STAY down and out. Then they step on your fingers to break them.

Sorry about my rant, but I just learned that our CU just raised their fee for NSF checks from $25.00 to $30.00. So now, a simple little OD check for $12.00 costs $42.00.

You are right Bandit. All these stimulus checks do is add to the federal deficit. Sure, print more money and give handouts, we (the federal govt) will just tack it on the insurmountable federal debt which is over 9.5 trillion and growing. People on this messageboard and anybody going through bankruptcy should never feel ashamed or depressed about it because their govt has been operating under bankruptcy since 1933 and all American citizens are collateral against this perpetual debt to the private banking cartel known as the Federal Reserve. Not one penny of your federal income tax goes to pay for any govt services but only to pay the interest on that 9.5 plus trillion. Reflect on this.
