clearification and questions

What is the legal date of filing/ Date you contacted lawyer and gave him info?
Date he officially eltronically files?
a. When will they check your bank account balance and stuff and last cc charges what date do they use?

* I visited lawyer 1 week ago and he took all my info and said it was a go and everything is done. I just have to wait for list of creditors to verify and they will file.
Two issue
1. Wife and I are seperated and not divorced and Im quite worried due to income. So scary if they don't let me file along. Lawyer seems to think its not a big deal and divorce isn't mandatory. I am so scared they will deny. I can't make it without filing especially with cc payments doubling.
2. Issue I have a bunch of stock options I have in my company that are worthless. Lawyer states have company write a letter detailing they have no value.(scared to reveal to much info to the company and make them wonder) But I will do
