well, terrible news. jsut hired them yesterday. had problems with them from the get go. non attorny staff giving me false info, lying or probably just ignorant a a bit of both. maybe just misleading instead of lying. i rooled with it and just had red flags all day long. i signed and pay check to them that day. went home flags still up. that was day 1.
day 2. got phone call very next day stating that person handling my case was going to be out 10 days. thats not what they told me when they got my money. they explained that the person had been out for 1 weeks on fmaily leave already and would bee back in over 1 more week. i asked for another person to handle it. they said they only have 1 of these type persons. i said that you guys said you handle hundreds of these cases a month, only 1 does the inteviewing? which by the way was supposed to be a para-legal.
they switched me to the cancellation person to make appointment to cancel the firm. that person said they actually had to wait 10 more days to let check clear before they started. im thinking ok how many stories are there. RED FLAG! RED FLAG!
so i show up at the meeting, and they are backpeddleing. they say oh no, the case is going to be dealt with today, blah blah and that the person that was going to do it is there instead and that the other person is an outside hired to do this stuff. ok now there was another lie for sure. tethy said everyone works within the firm. the attorney specifically stated that to me on day 1. RED FLAG! RED FLAG!
i explain my situation, tell them i want to cancel (fire them) and provide the reasons. they dismiss them all of course. i say i dont want to be charged the set fee in the agreement signed day one since nothign was done yet but enter my name and address into computer. and thata if that was ok then i would still consider their firm in the future and send clients to the firm for working things out.
they didnt go with it. granted these two guys were not anything on the level of professional much at all. they should have understood i was not going to be a happy client and work something out with me. i wouldn tmind paying $50 for any non-professional work that was done. seems fair. they rejected it.
anyway, my new attorney stated to stop payment on the check and he will include them in the chapter 7. dont worry.
ugg, what a car-salesmen jerks these guys were. i made resonable offer to pay for what was done. they said the the intial fee pays for all teh work done so far. lol. give me a break. i know i signed but i aint dumb. and i was trying to be fair.
heck they hadnt even ran a credit check. man when my gut tells me to run next time im going to run. mistake giving them any check at all.
what are my options? sometimes we just get into tehse problems wehre two people cant meet in the middle. they shoved me with 6 different people during the entire 2 days. wonder which of them are actually working if they are all trying to catchup what the other screwed up.
LESSON LEARNED: forget using practices that you aint working directly with the attorney or his personal assitant. it means they are running as many cased as they can for profit regardless of if you are comfortable with how lousy they do it.
i think it was misrepresentation but since none of them were attorneys except the one that wanted to make sure i knew that none of them were attorneys (LOL- i aint kidding you, thats what he said first thing in the room).
he was a nice guy but wasnt even a bankruptcy attorney.
any advice on how to work this out? or will BK just poof it away.
