I arrived at my meeting about 30 minutes early. The trustee was seated at a big table at the front. He was meeting with people. You could tell who the filers were and who the lawyers were. The filers all looked nervous and the lawyers were all joking around with each other. I had met with a few different people at my law firm and did not see anyone familiar...so I got nervous that my lawyer stood me up...lol
I eventually figured out who my rep was. When I was called up my lawyer and I chatted for a few moments. She stated that there was a mistake and that instead of paying 225 biweekly I would be paying 210 biweekly. That was a big surprise to me...I thought I would end up paying more.
The trustee went over a few things and then swore me in. He then asked what my address was and if my signature was the correct one on the paperwork. We then got off task and started talking about 13data.com and the 13network. He was impressed that I had heard about those sites. (I owe it to this forum)
He then said everything looks good, gave me a booklet, and said "Best Wishes to you."
He was so kind to every person that came up. He greeted each person with a smile and treated everyone with dignity. I was very impressed with how kind he was. I envisioned a grumpy old man who would be discussed with my filing. He was in no way judgemental. He even asked one lady if she felt that she had enough money left over to help with her son's upcoming wedding and then looked at the lady's lawyer and said "You to can talk about this after."
I live in Michigan...any other Michigan filers? I was a little lower than the IRS standards, but for the plan they went with the IRS standards. My husband did not file with me. Most of the unsecured debt is in my name and we are paying the secured stuff and my student loans outside of the plan. My lawyer only charged $400 up front to cover the fees and stuff and the rest is in the plan.
My Confirmation Hearing is August 14....I hope no one objects to the plan!
So far I have only a few creditors who have filed claims.
