I did it! We finally filed!

    I did it! We finally filed!

    This morning we met with our attorney and went over all the paperwork. There were so many pages to sign and things to review. It took about an hour. Then we were done! He said he knows our US Trustee, he's very nice. My case is solid, there are no red flags anywhere. Everything should go smoothly. We should have our 341 early September.

    We have to take a financial management course between now and the 341 meeting. He gave us the info.

    I'm just so relieved.

    We've been lucky, we've had no harrassing creditors. We stopped paying our credit cards in May, and got maybe 3 calls. Once we told them we were filing, they never called again.

    This board has been invaluable to me....and Im sure will continue to be.

        Not to get to personable but what is your cost to file and for the lawyer?

        A price range would work. Like $1K~2K ect.

        I'm sure this depends on which lawyer you pick.

        BTW, Congrats on fileing!!

            Congrats!! I also agree that this board has been invaluable to me. I learned so much from this board that I looked like I was better prepared at the 341 than people whom had "hired" representation. Even the UST complimented me on my knowledge of the process.

            Follow most of the good advice here and you'll do fine. Good luck!

              May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer
              July 2nd, 2007: 341 Meeting Held
              September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed.

                May 21, 2009 Retained 2nd Attorney
                May 28th - Filed for Ch 7 (FINALLY!)
                9/11/09 - DISCHARGED!!!!
