    Exemption?

For bank accounts what exemption line would be used for how much you can have at the time you file?

According to the Ohio exemption list this is what is says for wages:
Minimum 75% of earned but unpaid wages due for 30 days; bankruptcy judge may authorize more for low-income debtors.

    This is for personal property:
Cash, money due within 90 days, bank & security deposits & tax refund to $400 total.

If my girlfriends biweekly pay is $1K she would be able to have $750 at the time of fileing? Or would it be $1500 because of the wording-"earned but unpaid wages due for 30 day"

    Thanks

I'd aim to have it as low as possible. Probably less than the 400 dollars from the second line.

Rather than writing checks for bills. Go and cash the check and pay cash or use money orders. Be sure to get receipts this way the money is used up, bills are still paid and you don't have to wait for any clearance.

We have read on here about using money orders so that we don't have to wait for the checks to clear. We have to give all of her paper work to the lawyer on the 7th of October and she is filing on the 14th. The only problem is that she gets paid on the 10th. If it is below $400 I guess we can find things to pay early to spend down $600.

bring this up to your lawyer, they might could delay filing it a few days.
