I started getting letters from Citibank Well acutally Northland group representing Citibank. Wanting to settle with me. What do I do with these letters? Naturally i am filing a chapter 7 and i am not willing to settle. Does this mean that they are getting ready to take me to court? Are they a colleciton agency? thanks

I've gotten letters from AllianceOne representing CitiBank (Sears). I had to match up the debt amount with my creditor matrix to figure out who they were trying to collect for as it wasn't apparent at all.

You only received a settlement offer, nothing else. Just ignore it. Once they start hounding you just tell them that you are filing bankruptcy and give them your attorney's name and phone number.

Are they a collection agency. And yes, I only got a settlement letter, nothing else not even a phone call.

Yes, I got a Sears offer to settle like 20% on the dollar. It was over the weekend and of course they needed it right away. I told them I had no way to talk to my attorney and they said the deal will be too late then. Here is what would happen, you paid them but now you have a preferential payment. NEVER pay them without checking with your lawyer. You could really kill your bk fast. Believe me, I’m an expert at doing wrong things in bk. We got it, by God’s grace.
