    ? re: employment

It looks like we will have to file in AR after all and as a result, there will be a public notice. I have heard of a business declaring and the notice was printed in Little Rock; about 1.5 hours away, and 'everyone' knows about it.

So, we are facing public humiliation in a small town of 2,500 which is bad enough but what about our jobs? I understand that we cannot be fired for BK alone but I also understand that public opinion will likely force my employer to find a way to get it done. As I get older, I find that people are less worried about why they would do this (and the outcome for the organization) because they get so caught up in the intrigue and excitement. Lots of conspiracy theorists in the 'hood I am afraid.

Does anyone have advice or experience with a similar situation? Any advice on how to keep this as secret as possible in spite of it being a public notice? Should I apprise my attorney (when I find one) about the possibility of losing our jobs? Lastly, should I be proactive in notifying my employers because it is a certainty they will find out anyway?

Lots of questions.....thanks for any input.

Clubmanager: I would approach you boss and during a break or when he looks particularly relaxed, explain to him that you had to make a "business decision" and have decided the best way to go is take advantage of our wonderful Country's grant for a "new start" through bankruptcy. Look as professional and outright bussiness like, and that you are proud to have come to this conclussion after well thought alturnatives. Ham it up enough, and you may even get a raise for being a good employee and a good business head. In any case forwarn those you fear the most, as it will get out but it was your "well thought" decision to do so. It is not shameful to take this position, as you never planned it to happen. 'Hub

I lived in South Arkansas when I filed several years ago and the paper there gets the notices straight out of the Ar Dem/Gaz and then prints them in the local paper the following week. My boss saw mine and asked me if I was ok but that is as much chatter as I got about it. After a few days nobody remembers anyway.
