    I Really Need Help!!!

    hi, newbie here
i am doing a chapter 7 bk, court date is oct 30th, i plan on returning my car cause i owe 5,300 on it and its worth 1,500. but i need a car to get around, but noone will finance me without a co-signer it seems like. i dont have much family left. therefor let alone to cosign for me. is there anywhere that will finance someone like me with not needing a co signer. i cant do a redemption loan cause they said my car is too old with too many miles on it. and ideas on who would finance me would be a great help!!!

I can feel your pain. We also don't have anyone who can co sign for us. I didn't realize they could say the won't let you reaffirm the car loan. We also have a car that is older and we owe more than it is worth. We haven't filed bk yet but will soon.

As for getting a car w/o a co signer it seems like either saving up the money for one so you can have a nice size down payment will usually help or going to one of those places that takes anyone--yes the rate will be higher but at least it is something. In are area we always see ads for "no one turned down if you make a $1000 a mth".

Now here's crossing my fingers that we will get to keep our upside down car.

I would start looking for one of those 'buy here, pay here" car dealers. Start looking before you give up your other car. The interest rate will be outrageous. The dealerships typically pray on people that have difficult time getting financed. Your goal is to refinance the car down the road ( 2-3 months) and pay them off and have a lower interest rate.

So, in order to do that you need to be aware of the NADA/bluebook value of the vehicle your buying. If you the car at an outrageous price no bank will refinance for you( same position your in now).

Just tell the dealership to print out the NADA value for the car and give it to you. You can also go to NADA website to see the value of the potential car.

Do you live in an area where you can use public transportation until you are able to buy something?

I should have reference the public transportation idea. I live out in the sticks and after living there for almost 7 years I just found out they have buses that will come pick you up at my home. I live 1/2 hour away from work and I have two vehicles 1) is a 2000 SUV 2) 2001 mini van.
I now take the bus to work. I went from spending 80-120.00 a week on gas between two vehicles to only paying 18.00\wk for bus fare.. Not one single person laughs.. :o).. In fact, I think they envy me because I can pull it off.

well my car is a 1998 and 109,000 miles. they said that was too old. and as far as a bus my kids go to different schools. grade and mid schools. across town from each other. and the buy here pay here you need 1/2 down of what the car is being sold for. which i dont have. are there maybe garranteed auto loans. that don't ask 4 39.95 to get a garranteed auto loan.

What do you mean ask 39.95 for a guaranteed loan? Is that just to apply? If its the interest rate.. You may have to bite it and get a car. However, you may be able to refi and pay the car off after you have paid on it for awhile??

Is there not school buses for the kids? And if not, maybe you could ride the bus with the elementary child and the middle school can ride by themselves. Bus fares are a lot cheaper than gas and car payments.

Gee a 1998 with only 109k miles? That car is not worn out, just dated. We purchased at auction an old police car. 113K and after putting into it about 300 bucks for battery tires, plugs and filters and such, have put on 50k so far and it runs like a fine watch. It looks like what it is, a junker, but only because all the paint is coming off. A factory defect of that year. '92. 'Hub

that is what the redemption place said. that it was too old to refinance.
as far as the garrenteed loan for 39.95 usually to borrow for a loan, you shouldn't have to pay them. i believe that is scamming, to get some poor sucker to pay it.
