I'm in Ohio. I think my lawyer told me payments would/could come right out of my pay checks. Does anyone know if they have to come out that way or can you send money orders? I really don't want work knowing all my business, if you know what I mean.

I'm in Pennsylvania. Our lawyer told us the trustee would require that it be garnished from my husband's paycheck. The paperwork the court gave us says it must be taken from the paycheck. But on our petition, we checked the box stating that we would send in the payment. Nothing was said about it at our 341 meeting. Our hearing will be January 22, so we are waiting to see if they will require the garnishment. For now we are mailing a cashiers check. We are hoping to just get confirmed and keep mailing the check, but we'll see.
As a precaution, my husband already spoke to his manager about it, so hopefully there would not be ramifications for his job, promotions, etc.
It does seem unfair that they do this, since it could risk a person's job or promotion. Even though it is not LEGAL, it would be very difficult to fight.
If you had a REAL issue with this, I would think your attorney could present this to the judge.

Anyone sending a check in, needs to make sure you send it certified with return receipt. It costs $5.00, but is well worth it to have that green card signed in your BK file, in case any claims that you missed a payment arises. Make sure that you also keep any receipts you get from the post office. Should the payment go astray in the mail, the item number is on your receipt, and the post office can trace it.Originally posted by oldrocker View PostIt will just depend on what is customary in your district. We can do the payroll thing or send a check, I send a personal check each month."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."
