A New Secret or at least a Secret I Didn't Know About

I had been paying 275 a month forever on my loan so I put that down in my schedules. And I budgeted for it for my future new life after bk. Come to learn that now my monthly required payment is only 50 a month. I only have about 3k left on this loan and intend to keep the payments at 275 to pay it off sooner. But - I think it's cool that the trustees may not be aware of this. Also, if something should happen (ie I lose my job), 50 is much more manageable than 275.

If the trustee had been aware of this - it could have pushed me into a 13. So WOW and way cool. I had no idea and wanted to share for what it's worth. If you have a gov't student loan that's almost paid off - use it to your advantage.

I had something similar. I had been paying on my studen loans forever, and included that payment as part of my monthly expenses for my 13 plan. Come to find out, they are being paid inside the plan. I had no idea until I pulled my credit report. I saw that they had a 0 balance listed. That made me call and find out that I owed nothing and had a credit because I had been paying like I thought I was supposed to.

Shockingly, I haven't got any of my overpayment back.
