    huh

the 300 is for the petition. thats the filing fee. im not sure how much the lawyer will charge you.
WE charge in our office 2300, some office charge 1700 well we does charge less than 2300 sometimes, all depends on the case., im refering to chapter 7.
We never let the clients pay for the credit counseling. we give them free access code that saves the client money.

My initial retainer was 200 dollars.

Some offices give a free initial consult, some charge. The ones that charge generally apply it to the bk filing fee which is usually 1700+.

paid 1501 + 299 fee to lawyer here... it's a little higher than some of the other offices in town, but I believe you get what you pay for.

We had to give a retainer after our free consultation. But then in order for him to file our petition he wanted payment in full. All 3799. worth.

We gave our Attorney 350.00 to retain. We then paid 400.00+ 299.00 before he would file(Michigan). However, we never sent any creditors to him until after we were paid in full.

We paid a 100.00 for consultation, then 3100.00. He would give us any advise till we paid in full. Even when I call him now he just say's I can't give you any advise till I complete the means test. I feel like saying why bother, I learn more on the BK forum-----give me my money back.

I paid my attorney $500 to retain him, plus the filing fee, which I believe was $299. The other $2500 was rolled into my plan.

Our Chapter 7 cost $1500 + $299 filing and that is in California. I actually thought it was reasonable. Our attorney wouldn't file unless he had payment in full.

If it is Ch. 7 the attorney will want to be paid in full before filing. It is actually a violation of the automatic stay for the attorney to collect after the case is filed. Some do, but they shouldn't.

With Ch 13, a portion of or even in some cases the entire retainer can be rolled into the plan.

I didn't realize you were speaking of a Ch 7. I'm in a Ch 13, and that's why the remaining $2500 was rolled into my plan.
