Since Countrywide doesn't offer reaffirmations and ride thru's are prohibited in my state, what happens with my mortgage since I plan on staying a while?

If the creditor allows you to do a walk through even if your state doesn't allow it then you'll be okay.
Might get it in writing that they are allowing a walk through
. Just make sure to make timely payments from now on
. (Maybe write letters to your state legislatures to get the law changed too
).

Countrywide customer too..
I have my mortgage with Countrywide and am in Georgia. Not sure about the laws in my state, but when I asked Countrywide about reaffirming, they told me that they do not send out any paperwork to that effect. They just recommended that I continue to pay the monthly mortgage as usual. I also plan to stay awhile, so I'll just make my payments on time. I found their bankruptcy dept. to be very friendly and helpful. When I got behind on my payments a few months ago, they were very accommodating. Not so sure what to expect now that they've been bought by B of A. I think you're safe as long as you make your payments on time.

Ok, so CW isn't going to reaffirm my first, but I have my 2nd thru a CU and they will probably want to reaffirm, what do I do??? I have a feeling they are going to insist, but I'm just not comfortable signing a reaffirmation on a 2nd when the 1st isn't requiring one.Retained Lawyer 10/3/08

We had our second through Countrywide, same scenario. No reaffirmation.
Just beware that you no longer have account access via internet once you've filed bankruptcy. I've had to actually mail in my payments.
And, as for being late, we are a month behind on our mortgage (until we get our tax return to catch up) and Countrywide hasn't said boo to us about it. They just keep sending statements.
Good luck to you!Filed Chapter 7: 3-22-08
