    Need help with collection

My situation is very dicy right now. Here is my story. If anyone have similar experience please help

I bought stock using margin from Ameritrade and Scottrade. Since both Lehman Brother and WAMU went bankrupt, I ended up not only lost all my saving, also own Ameritrade 10K and Scottrade 52K in debit.

I planed to withdraw what left of my 401K next year when the market improve to pay off the debt. Most people on this board suggest that I should keep my 401K and file for Chapter 13. So I plan to do it early Janurary as I had a bonus in July which complicate the income. This bonus was due to company buyout so it came only once.

Ameritrade just call me and demand payment otherwise they will put it in collection

So my question is that how difficult is to deal with debt collectors. Do they show up at my work or my wife work?

Can I still file chapter 13 BK after the account went to collection

    Thank you all

I doubt they will show up anywhere unless if it is a local creditor, even then it would be highly unlikly. They will just call you non stop and try to collect. They will possibly get a judgment against you, but if you are filing in January they may not have time to do that anyway.

Thanks for your help. I feel a little better now

        Question?

If I file chapter 13 after the account already sold to collection, should I amend the CA as creditor ?

        Thanks
