How and when to Talk to my CU?

    Hi all,
My atty is filing my ch7 this afternoon.

I have a loan with my CU I want to reaffirm and my atty is mentioning my intent to reaffirm in the filing. I really want my relationship with them to remain favorable.

I've heard the stories about how a CU will kick me out...and I've opened a bank account down the street just in case.

So, what's the best way to get a good-faith dialogue in place? Should I talk to the CU now, or wait until they hear about it through more official channels?

What type of loan would you want to reaafirm? If it's an unsecured loan, I wouldn't suggest you reaffirm. One of the credit unions I belonged to got whiff that I had filed and immediately closed my account. Funny thing is.....I didn't have any loans with them and they were not included in my BK.

Do NOT reaffirm a loan just to keep a good relationship with your credit union. This is business!!!
