    Re-establishing credit...Can a credit card company....

that you have previously had - like say, Citi - can they take your discharged amount and stick you with it if they give you a new card? Somewhere (I wish I could find the article) I read that a credit card company tried to do that. I am wondering if that's true? I can't see that a company could do that being that it's legally discharged, but really curious! Thanks

I doubt it. First of all Citi will NEVER again issue you a card no matter how long ago you filed on them. Second - even if they did - it would be illegal for Citi to tack on a legally discharged amount unto a new card.
