What happens if I wait 3 years to file/taxes?

I owe a huge amount of taxes (Federal/State/Payroll) that in this lifetime I probably won't be able to repay (sole proprietor/failed business/divorce) I understand that I can include taxes in BK if they are over three years old and I am up to date and filing my returns on time-excluding payroll.

But I also have multiple outstanding accounts and two repossessed cars. What happens if I wait three years to file? Sued, Garnishments, Levies (already have one from CA for 40K)

My fear is BK for 5 years and than taxes for 10 years....retirement age with nothing

I don't even know where to start...looking into other countries at this point.

Nightowl: Well I owe 30K and worked a payment plan. I could not even think about your situation. Have you paid into SS as you may be living on it alone. You really at this time need a good tax lawyer even before your bk lawyer. I wish I could help you more than this. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I'd suggest a tax lawyer..That one firm "Ronnie Deutche" or something like that...Might be helpful..You've got some problems, but I think a lawyer needs to really sit and look everything over...

Canada is nice, I'd not consider anywhere else if I was to leave the USA...

Oh, BTW if you do go north, let me know your addy? I'll send you some money for lottery tickets and maybe some of that nice heavy duty beer they got up there.

Well, if you have nothing, do an Offer in Compromise with the IRS.
