    heads-up to cc companies...

im still current on my cc payments, but not for long and i plan on filing in march....instead of waiting on collection calls, im wondering if it makes any difference if i were to call the cc people and give them my lawyers number and tell them a bk is forthcoming...
    anyone tried this?

Yeah I wouldn't tell them anything. Wait until they start calling you to give your attorneys name and number (thats it, no other info).

I too filed with basically no late payments. I just knew I couldn't do it any more. Each creditor ended up calling once...I gave My attorneys info and they never called again. Actually AMEX never called at all. Just sent a letter cancelling my cards.
BTW anything I say here is just me yapping based on my experience. Your milage may vary.

Hub is right. Take the peace and quiet while you can...once you are late then the phone begins to ring, that is the time to tell them your attorney's phone number. As a strategy you may even want to wait to tell them until Jan/Feb as late as possible before filing
        Filed CH 7 9/30/2008
        Discharged Jan 5, 2009! Closed Jan 18, 2009

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

I also decided to file when I was late with two cards and they jacked my rate from 6.5% to over 28% and payments and late fee went to over $600/month. I filed, I got maybe 4-6 calls from Chase and none from HSBC or BofA. I finally told Chase I files and gave them my attorney's name and case number and I haven't heard a word since.
