Do I still keep paying??

Hi everyone! My husband and I have an appointment Jan 4th to start filing for Chapter 7.

I'm currently behind on all my credit cards because we can no longer keep up with the payments. Last month I called all my credit card companies to try and make payment arrangements.. I did end up making a lower payment arrangement with 2 of my Discover cards and have paid one month with them so far. Well our circumstance has gotten worse so now I can barely afford the two Discover payments.

Should I just stop paying them all together and put that money towards my other bills (electric, phone etc)??? Those are even behind right now.

I would say if your intention is to file, then yes pay your other bills!

Yes, quit paying on anything you are letting go in the bankruptcy..especially since you are so close to filing.

stop paying. we stopped 2 months ago and file at the end of january. we only pay utilities ins student loans etc now.

OK, thanks so much! Thats what I figured, to stop paying, but I just wanted to check. I can certainly use the money for other things! Like coming up with the $$ to pay the lawyers.. LOL!

Ahhh, I'm glad I found this forum I'm going to need all the support I can get being this stressed!!
