HHM, how much do you know about foreign bank accounts? My wife has a savings account open in the Asia which only has 800 US dollars. Do I need to list that on the petition? We are just having a hard time getting statements for this account..Our sign in day is on the 22nd and it's going to take a week to get these documents..Is there a way for the trustee to pull up bank accounts in foreign soil?

Just an FYI she opened this back in 05 when she wasn't a US Citizen..not sure if that makes a difference..

As long as you disclose it, there is no risk to you.

Bottom line:
The money in that account is an asset. (the fact it is in foriegn country has no legal implication, only practical implications). The money in that account is either exempt, or not (i.e. do you have a wild card exemption). Does the bank have any type of online access? If you cannot get statements, how do you know there is still $800 in it

As far as I know, the trustees do not have access to any sort of centralized database of accounts (in fact, I do not think such a DB exists).

I'll ask this from my lawyer on monday but lets say I don't get the statements by the 23rd which is the day of us signing the petition. Can I provide the statements during the 341 meeting?
