    Phone calls post filing?

If I wasn't late when I filed will I still receive phone calls?

I signed the final paperwork today and paid the lawyer but we are waiting until 12/29 to file. I won't have anything past due at that point but I don't know what'll happen when things are late.

    Thanks!

Forward everything to your cel phone and give the cc co's and coll. agencies custom rings of MUTE. Works PERFECTLY!

JUst answer the calls when you get them and inform them that you are represented and tell them to only contact your attorney and give them your attorney's information.

When we filed we weren't past due on anything. Your creditors will be notified within a week to 10 days. During that time period, I became late (by only a few days) and I received only (1) call. I answered and told them I had filed BK - they asked for the case # and attorney name. Never received another call.
          Chapter 7 filed 10/21/2008
          341 - 11/26 went smooth NO ASSET
Took 115 days after 341 - But Finally DISCHARGED 3/25/09

Once you have filed and the creditors know about it, there is no point in calling. If you do get a call, it will be from a creditor or collection agency that has not been informed.

I told all creditor calls after I had paid my attorney that I had retained an attorney and was filing bankruptcy. They asked for my attorney's info and the calls pretty much stopped after that.

actually I told my cards that I retained and attorney and intended on filing bankruptcy.

Calls stopped but then I got a letter from Amex. They closed my accounts due to my intentions. Then I got calls from one of their collection agencies. They already sold off my debt. Since I may be looking to settle, this can work to my advantage (hopefully).

Same here. I get a call occasionally, Im assuming its a new collector (debt was sold again). I inform them nicely and they stop calling.
