When should I stop paying on my cards and loans?

I am actually current on all of my loans and credit cards. I am usually late but not too bad. I borrow money from EVERYONE and I am in the whole almost $10,000 to family. I am going to file chapter 7 but i am afraid that if I stop paying on my debt, file, and then I am denied for some reason... my credit will REALLY be screwed.

Will it effect me that I am current on my bills? will they look at it like I can pay and why am I filing?

thanks for any help, I am kind of stuck and not sure where to start

Are you still using any of the credit cards? Have you done any cash advances? Have you seen an attorney? If you haven't seen an attorney go do so and see 3-4 attorneys. The attorney will be able to tell you what chapter you can file, either 7 or 13. I think you need to start there first. Your attorney will also advise you as to when you can file and will then tell you to stop paying your credit cards at that time. Goodluck.

I haven't used my cards in a while because they are maxed out. I haven't done any cash advances. I haven't seen an attorney and I probably won't due to the high cost. I will be filing chapter 7 and I will give up my assets... truck and dirt bike, they are collateral for a loan. I want to file on my own but I am just wondering how it will go over since I have been paying on my debt, no missed payments.
