    Approved for an auto loan!

I was approved today for an auto loan on a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. The interest rate is high, but I can refinance it in six months, and get a comparable and good interest rate.

Once again, I am now 8 months post discharge! There is life after bankruptcy folks!

(Oh yeah. I did have to come up with a $500.00 down payment, but that was all.)

      About $225 a month.

Insurance is more what I am worried about. I am not quite 25 yet, and I really get raped on insurance here Michigan.

Tin, if they are tearing you up on Insurance you may as well be in Florida and have the sun. Anyway, congratulations!

Tinroof, did you try lendingtree.com before you went car shopping? You might be surprised at what your rates may have been. Believe it or not, I am purchasing a 2006 Honda Ridgeline at about 9%, and was discharged (Chapter 7) this past June. As you say, there is life after Bk.....

One thing I learned about refinancing cars; you don't want to get one that's too old as most companies wont refi a car that is over 5 years old.

Read today about some auto lenders using a special kind of FICO score, just available to the auto industry. It seems that it rates you higher than your traditional FICO score if you re-affirmed your veicles and made timely payments on them. Author suggests that you seek a lender who uses this scoring system if you re-affirmed your cars.
I only know what I read, can't vouch for it's veracity at all. Just thought that if it were true, it might be worth checking out for some of us.
The author also suggested talking with the finance person first before any salesperson. Art
