Dischaged Nov 2008, trustee wants our tax refund?!

Hello,
We were discharged from our chapter 7 in Nov 2008. It was an asset case, we had to make a payment to the trustee to keep our car. We thought we were all done...today we got a letter from the trustee saying that if we get a refund from the IRS when we do our taxes, we have to turn it over!

I didn't know they could do this. Our lawyer never told us.. (he was pretty worthless). Is it just for this year, or can this go on for years? We live in Florida.

Nope, just for your 08 taxes. If you can't exempt the refund, it is property of the bk estate.
