7 years Post Discharge-Renting and School Loans

Since there is no proper forum for this in the post discharge area, I'm posting here. I am 7 years post Chapter 7 discharge this year. I've rebuilt my credit -score is in the upper 600s to lower 700s, I've bought a couple houses, a car and had a clean slate since. Credit cards are high now, but payment record is absolutely clean.

My question is has anyone encountered a problem renting an apartment this long after a discharge? We'll be seling the house, moving to a new state and renting during law school. Boyfriend will be working but my income will be coming from school loans. Basically, I'm a little nervous because he'll be changing jobs (no BK on his record though & credit is in high 600s) and I'll be essentially unemployed (and I'm going into law so I can't work during school). We'll probably apply before he quits the current job (showing a steady 4 yr work history w/ the current employer).

    Thanks!

You will have no problem renting. Are you considering BK law?

I have a friend who is in another profession right now but my recent experience has her interested in bk law. She has always loved law and has considered in the past, but now she is specifically interested in bk law.

I wonder how much the bk attorneys earn annually? Not in NYC, but in a normal mid-sized city....just wonder what their w-2 for the year says?? Any ideas??

BK attorneys may not make a bunch depending on the size of the firm, partner status etc. Best bets for a good salary these days seem to be patent law or corporate law (if you have connections). Public defenders and low tier staff attorneyss can often make salaries comparable to high school teachers -a big reality check when the student loans come due!
