    utilities

We are getting ready to file hopefully at the end of this month, hoping for numbers to add up correctly.

We have been trying to keep the big payments current, what we are keeping. (house, car, insurance) but have fallen a little behind on utilities. Not by much, no disconnection notices yet.

Do those have to be current the day we file? would services get disconnected if they are not?

    Thanks

No utilities owed the day you file can be discharged. BUT the utility companies will want a deposit to keep the service on those deposits can be high. depending on how much you owe it maybe worth it. you will get the deposit back in a couple of years.

I was not current on my utilities bills the day we filed. BUT, i did call the utility company up and ask if i can go on a payment plan. I never told them about the BK and they did not appear on my BK appears at all. I finally caught up and everything is the same as it was.

        Thank you for the responses

Should I called the service companies and ask for pmt plans. Will they ask me for a deposit after I have file? Do they find out about bk, is this something that needs to be disclosed to them.

        Thanks.

          Thanks.

I never had my attorney put my utilities on my BK. He asked me if I wanted to and said I could have that discharged, but it was only 500.00 and i figured why discharge 500.00, when i will probably have to put down 250-400 in deposits and then have them maybe treat me differently. I never put them on the bk and they never found out. I called my electric company and told them that i was having trouble with paying the balance in full and they said fine we will set up at payment plan. They broke up the payments for about 5-6 months. I had it paid off before then so it didn't matter.

Give the electric or other utility company a call, don't mention the BK at all, if you do not plan on discharging your balance.
