I am moving to NC this summer to teach and I plan on filing bankruptcy this spring/early summer. There are a lot of apartment complexes that offer discounts to teachers but I'm sure there is a credit check required.
Has anyone filed and then been approved for a lease a few months later?

We got approved for our lease almost a year after we filed. We had to put down a months rent for deposit. The first month was free so it evened out for us. Manager said what helped us was our job stability. My husband has been at his job almost 4 years and I have been at mine a little over 2. Good luck. :)

A months deposit worth, and a handwritten letter explaining the BK, lost job, foreclosure helped my situation. Got my apartment on my first attempt.

Rental vacancies are up in NC. You'll have no problem getting a place to lease.
