I have found so much good information in this forum. You guys are great!
I am preparing to contact an attorney - and am unsure how complicted my case will be. I want to file, but not have my husband file. The joint debt is the mtg and back taxes (amount unknown, they are last year's and are not done. I am working on that now now. (we are both self employed)- He has had very little the last several months- and now may have to have surgery. So likely to have little coming in in the next few months.
We want to keep the house, and we have just been offered a modification which I need to return by 3/5 if I want to accept. Bottom line is now the clock is on due to this modification offer so I need to consult with an attorney before I sign this document- I do not want to make the wrong choice. I don't have too much "shopping" time so if anyone has any suggestions for an attorney (central CT) it would be much appreciated if you could PM me.
Any thoughts about what I should bring to a 1st meeting if I do not have paystubs (I do have my monthy commisson cks as I am a sub) but do not have a tax return? We are probably talking a jt income of less than 40K for both of us combined after Scedule C's are complete.
Does the "income" that will be considered the result of the final number on the schedule Cs...or is it the gross intake? But if anyone else that is self employed can help my with that question, I can be better prepared for my first consult.
Thanks so much!
Katie
