Does anyone know if one can be an authorized user of someone else's credit card while filing for bk?

The credit wouldn't be in my name, I am talking about being an authorized user on someone else's account (friend or family member). It still appears on my credit report, but it lists me as an authorized user.

I'd just use it for car rentals or hotel stays.

thanks

Probably depends on your trustee. Mine says no new credit or debt during the CH 13. I've heard others whose trustee allows amounts under certain thresholds (I've read $500 all the way up to $5000). You'll want to ask your lawyer or trustees office first tho. I use my checking account debit card (has a Mastercard logo) for car rentals and hotels, haven't had a single problem yet. Usually I use a service like Orbitz or Hotwire for travel and have to pre-pay anyhow, then can just leave a security deposit at the hotel if they require one.
