    American Express

I have 3 American Express cards. I have the Amex green, Amex blue and I have the Amex card through Costco. Now I plan on filing the Amex blue & green. I don't have a balance on the Amex Costco card and wasn't planning on including that card. Will that card automatically be cancelled after I file? I had to lose my Amex card. Any advice??

Yes. All accounts w/ AMEX will be cancelled, unless it is a corporate card w/ the employer assuming ALL liability. Very few corporations assume all liability, it's typically the card holder's. In your case, consider your card closed. Good luck.

AMEX will shut you off. I had two or their cards recently discharged in chapter 7. I would love to get an AMEX card some day but recognize that it will be tough.

Does anyone know if AMEX does reaffirmation agreements?

          I don't know...I don't think so

But really, why bother. There are plenty of other cards out there with benefits.

            Hello, there!

I was going to start a new thread with similar information, so I am glad I found this thread.

Well, I have (or used to have) two American Express cards, both Blue. One of them has a balance and the other one has no balance at all. A few days ago, after failing to pay the one with a balance for about two months, I received a letter telling me that "both cards" have been frozen. Hence, this led me to think that both accounts will be canceled even if I just discharge the debt on just the card with the balance.

You know, I had good intentions with my "zero balance" American Express card, and I was hoping to keep it after BK 7. I could have easily used all available credit with this card, but I didn't do that. One way or another, this reflects the fact that not all people who go to BK "max out" all credit cards intentionally.

I still have my Orchant card with zero balance in spite of my having an HSBC card with a balance without paying it. We'll see what happens in this other case. I will be reporting accordingly.

            Until next time,

            Albert L.

              Re: Reaffirmation agreements

If I recall correctly, I once read here about a guy who did a reaffirmation agreement with American Express, so it's possible to do.
