    Credit Report After Chapter 7

Our chapter 7 was discharged in august and just yesterday i looked at our credit report. I was shocked to see so much of the old junk still on hthere. Some said discharged in bankrupcy but some didn't. Will all of this remain? Planning on calling our lawyer to explain.

    Hello,
Your lawyer may explain it to you but he will likely not clean it up. You have to begin an orderly cleanup of your Credit file. If anyone disputes your discharge your lawyer will probably send the company a letter informing them that the debt was discharged and directing them to reflect that on your Credit report. August is very soon, it will take time for some to report the discharge.

    1. Do not dispute the Bankruptcy itself, make sure the filling and discharge date are accurate on your report.
    2. Do not dispute accurate reports at this time. You need to get the current information recorded correctly. Don't take a chance on being flagged as someone attempting to erase everything negative.
    3. You want the information to reflect the filing date. In other words if you filed in June and the company was notified of your creditors Meeting in June no negative information should be reported after that date (ideally).
    4. All three CRA's have online dispute capabilities. Start with Experian. I prefer hand written letters.
    5. Here is a good resource, $12.00 well spent on my part. I have no interest in the company that sells this ebook but I recommend it. Buy it, prin t and use it.
    6. Credit Repair Firms? No way! Time, patience, work on yor part.
