Unfiled Income Tax and Chapter 7?

I am looking at filing a Chapter 7 before the laws change next week and I have a few questions.

I have not filed taxes for the last 5 years. Will this prevent me from filing chapter 7? Is there something I can do in the week remaining?

I always had extra taken out of my salary until 2003, so that although I failed to file, I was actually owed money $35-100 . When I began to do contract work for my former employer in May 2003, this was no longer the case.

I have not been employed since May 2004, and have had no income since that time. In 2004, I earned $13,000.00 . In 2003, I had about $15,000- in income that I should have paid taxes on. My former employer broke our contract and failed to pay me for around twenty thousand dollars of work.

My total debt is around 36 thousand. I have no car or house or other assets (discounting basic clothes, et cetera). I have been living on credit cards and borrowed money, but that is coming to an end.

I would very much appreciate some advice and info regarding the tax issue.

My only other concern is that although I do not have much choice, I'd like to know if future employers will choose not to hire me because of the BK?

    Thanks!

For f**k sake, file a tax return, already.

However, to answer your question, no, the fact that you haven't filed will not prevent you from filing, but you will need to file a return before you can get a discharge.
