Today our lawyer filed a conversion what happens next

We've been in a 13 for 25 months with 35 months and $9000 in payments left to go. Dh's job took a hit and he suffered a big drop in income so our lawyer says we can now do a Ch 7. They filed a voluntary conversion today.

What happens next? HOw long does this all take? If everything goes through okay when will we be discharged?

    Thanks Everyone!
4/09 Converted to a Ch 7 due to loss in dh's income
5/09 UST now involved no idea what happens next
7/09 UST has decided to withdraw his motion to dismiss!
    7/27/09 DISCHARGED!!!

This is how my conversion is going - we have our 341 meeting next wednesday. We filed the conversion and the attorney notified our chapter 13 trustee so they could stop garnishing the paycheck. Within two weeks we were sent notification of who our trustee was, when our 341 meeting was to be, and what our discharge date is. We were sent a letter requesting bank statements leading up to and including the date we filed the conversion, two most recent pay stubs reflecting our new income/change in financial circumstance, and a statement of intent to file regarding our vehicles. We also signed an affidavit that we had a substantial change in circumstance (dh was seriously injured at work and will be out of work for at least a year). It has been easy so far.

Discharge time really depend on how busy your area is. Your attorney should be able to give you an idea of what the averages are for your district. Sorry couldn't help.

Mine was 2 months and I got the discharge date on the same notice that I received that told me when my 341 was.
