So I have been looking at my CR and doin' a little disputin':D
I want to be able to buy a house two years after by BK discharge, ( So March 2011)
I have started with one CRA at a time ( since I have two years to fix this mess) So far I have had three baddies deleted simply by dispuitng online.
I look at the reports and pick over them with a fine tooth comb and dispute by selecting "other reason" in the dispute filed and then use a statement like, the balance posted for 3/2007 is not correct, please correct or remove. I don't use the "Not Mine" dispute or any of the other selections they have, I be sure to use "other" and then include a statement of some sort. Now most of my CC debt is about 4-5 years old, charged off, bought by a JDB, so my theory is, they ( OC) probably don't have the best records on my accounts, so the CRA's have to send a specific request in their investigation, like the example of 3/2007 balance not correct-so they can't just do a name/address quickie verification and update as "verified".
So far it seems to be working ok. One even came back as "paid as agreed" and moved into the accounts in good standing section out of the potentially negative section, which is hilarious, cuz I sure didn't pay as agreed-it was charged off.
If I can just get the old scorios to a 620-640 range, I may be a homeowner someday with an affordable payment!
