My parents gave dh a truck and I'm wondering when will it be safe to transfer it? Tomorrow is day 60 for us and the transfer will be done as a gift. It's nothing extravagant. Going by our counties Black Book estimates it's valued at $6500 max.

I agree, and also, I would wait till the tag is due so that you won't have to pay a partial year. Just make sure it is insured or that their insurance would cover you.
