I am 99% sure that if you filed before 10/17 and convert now, that your conversion to ch. 7 would use old laws. If you filed 10/17 or later, then new laws apply. Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I don't know if you saw my post in the Chapter 13 forum, but if you are really curious to know what people who have filed in your state were able to do, then go on to Pacer and do a search for Chapter 7 filers who filed Oct 18 or later, who are converted cases. These are all things you can select with the drop-down menus. You will also select your city, what type of case (bankruptcy, obviously) and Chapter 7, since you want to find people who are currently Ch 7 filers, who converted from another case (usually Chapter 13).
This will pull up filers in your area. If your city is too small to pull up many records, maybe you could select another city in your state, or another state even.

Check with clerk at court they can probably tell you. I also checked with attorney's websitee but it was closed and a notice not accepting new cloents until the end of Nov., due to the new laws, you could probably email the question to her. pm me if you need more info.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....
