    341 meeting and bank statements

Our attorney told us just to bring picture id and our ss card, but I have read on the board that you should have 3 months of bank statements. Are the 3 months of bank statements the 3 months prior to the FILE date, or prior to your 341 meeting? I am just curious because we opened another account, at the advice of our attorney, shortly after filing. Should we bring bank statements from this new account as well?

I had heard that too, but my attorney told me not to bring anything but my SS card and DL because he didn't want me to give the trustee anything that the attorney had not seen first. He said if the trustee wanted anything at the meeting that it could be given to him afterwards. I would do whatever the attorney tells you to do and not stress about it. I got the impression at my 341 (which was today) that they know these trustees very well and know what they are going to ask for just from previous experience with them.

I took mine just in case. I would rather show the Trustee I wasn't trying hide anything in case he asked to see my bank statements. I wasn't asked for them though so they never came out of my folder. At my 341 I didn't see one person get asked for bank records.

If you want to have them "just in case" it is the 3 - 6 months before you filed. Your fresh start begins the day you file. (Well...kinda, sorta).
