Just discharged, do we need to keep...

Any reason I'd need to keep previous monthly stmts from the accounts that were included in our Ch7?? I have all of 2007 and 2008 and whatever we rec'd this year.

    I kept everything {I got a packrat gene}!
Debts that you defaulted on should fall off your credit report at the 7 year mark. I'm holding on to absolute proof of the dates of default in case somebody tries to reage.
I'd also suggest that you keep the entire bk petion in your safe deposit box. Also, make a copy of your discharge letter and on pacer, print out the page where it lists all the creditors notified of your discharge in casae some junk debt buyer tries to collect down the road. Keep those at home for easy access.

Personally I would keep the paperwork for at least a few years, if not more. Better to be on the safe side.

I plan on having a huge paper shredding party after I am discharged for all the old account statements. I don't see a need for the individual statements, but I could be wrong. I just want all the paper gone. I obviously will be keeping multiple copies of the BK stuff around for exactly what was mentioned above.....junk debt buyers.
