Not sure on this one, most water districts are county offices, many privately owned. When they speak of Govt. taxes, I don't think they are refering to utility bills believe that is for IRS, etc.
My water district (county operated) does nothing when someone files BK........ they discontinue sending bills etc.
As a water district we are tax exempt, but I don't think that applies to being exempt in bankruptcy discharges.
Some else may know the answer to this.
Sorry I'm not much help!!!

Did you include the $500 water bill in your bankrutpcy??
And yes, you do have a bad leak, and still have (if its not been fixed or turned off)..... unless you haven't paid your water bill for months???
The water district will not turn your water off during bankruptcy - but they do have the right too after discharge, and then charge a "big" downpayment to get it turned back on....
You must keep your utilities current during bankruptcy.... as it will result in big deposits to get them back on.
Did the water disrict file a Motion to Object with the Court?
Or did they just send you a letter??
