Long day.... Had our 341... Finally Over!

We were supposed to be at the Bankruptcy Court in downtown Raleigh at 9:30 AM... So we sent my oldest son on to school, and took our 1 year old son with us... After searching for parking, we get to the Creditors Meeting Room at around 9:35. There is a mob of people there... We get sworn in, the whole bit... Then the trustee tells us that those who filed pro se (us) won't be seen until 1:00... That screwed up my work plans, because I figured at 9:30, I'd have enough time to get back to work around 12 or 1:00...

So we decide to go back, take my son out of school, and double back to the court... We go back at 1:00, and the people who are filing with an attorney are still given preference. Of course, my two boys were fidgeting and restless... We were finally called up at around 3:40, and it was over in less than two-three minutes... The trustee was very pleasant, commenting on my 1-year old, who by this point, was asleep in my wife's arms... It was a huge load off our shoulders... It took dang near all day, but it should be well worth it in the end.

    Congrats!!
Ours is scheduled for 11:00 AM on 12/8. We have only grown children who live away from home. My wife has scheduled the whle day off and has it is a Thursday, she's taking off Fri. also. If all goes well, we're going away for the weekend (something cheap...prob see friends/ relatives about 3 hours drive from here and stay with someone.) If things do not go well, we will go home, hide under the covers and cry, then get up and do what needs to be done to live with the outcome. Either way, we are planning for it to be "emotionally drainiing")

Thanks for your story Victor. Good luck to you Art! My meeting is less than 2 weeks away..... and I am anxious & nervous at the same time. I just want it to be over.... but worry about everything that could go wrong. My meeting is at 3:30 -- so, guess I don't have to worry about being there ALL day.... maybe all night ;) though!!

They didn't really ask for anything besides your ID and Social Security Card... I've read on the forums that you shouldn't bring anything extra, but we had the title to our (my father's) car with us... They didn't ask for it... We were one of the last ones to go since we were filing pro se, so we were able to watch the other cases... Most were no asset and went pretty quickly... In cases where people had property, it took a little longer, and I think they had documentation for the trustee... But it was very quick, and the trustee was a very nice gentleman... His last name is Sparkman... I think his first name was Richard.
