341 today & still getting medical bills

Our 341 is scheduled for 1:30pm today We filed pro se and I am a bit nervous, but we shall see how it goes. I am getting calls and bills from a couple of medical providers that were listed in the bankrupcy. I know they were notified. Should I do anything? (I had planned on paying them later after all the insurance is finished and the bankrupcy is complete, but I included them to keep the pressure off and the finance charges off). Was I wrong?

They may have sold the accounts to collections. Send the company that keeps billing you a certified letter telling them you have filed, case #, etc. They then have been formally notified to quit billing you. They should be on your matrix list and notifed from the court also.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

I had many still calling me after I filed. Finally, I started answering the phone (first time in about 3 months) and after they tokd me who they were calling on behalf of, I'd say, "We filed Bk" So far everyone of them immediately changed their tone, got anywhere from civil to nice to even friendly, usually asked me to hold for just a second while they got the different forms, then just asked me for info. Sometimes as little as atty's name and phone #, sometimes the whole schpiel as to chapter, when filed, date of 341, case #, etc, but NEVER anything more than was on the piece of paper which was mailed to the creditors and a copy to me.
It seems that often the collections dept is not notified in a very timely manner if at all. I will also add that the only repeat call which we received was from a dept store and once they called about my wife's acct. and once about mine. We keep most all of our money separate.
      Good luck, Art
