I'm married filing as an individual. My spouse is not part of the filing. Spouse owns almost everything, and what spouse doesn't own I listed with my initial filing. An appraiser came out the other day. I felt strange showing them the house because there is furniture etc, but again, my spouse owns almost all of it. I'm wondering how the trustee will look at it. They also found a couple things I forgot to list in my initial asset list. Again, I forgot, it wasn't on purpose. How is this normally handled? I'm not trying to cheat the system, but the trustee doesn't know who I am. I never knew (until a couple weeks before they showed up) that someone would be out. None the less, any idea how this will shake out? Again, I'm not cheating..I forgot a few of these items. They're nothing major, but should have been listed. The other part would be, if they do question anything how do I prove those things are my spouses? We don't have receipts for most of this stuff. Most was purchased a long time ago or brought in (from our own seperate places at the time) when we were married about 7yrs ago. I'm sure I'm not the first to have this dilemma, but we've been having a really bad last couple years and don't need more problems.

Guess that's just the way they do it here. Send an independent appraisal company out to verify assets. Likely also verifying and assigning values to things so the trustee can do his/her thing. Doesn't surprise me that they do this. What bothers me is that it may look like I'm trying to cheat when in fact I'm not. I pointed out to them what I claimed, then we went around the house and I had to tell them what was mine and what wasn't. They took pix too.Comment
