341 yesterday

Well, we had our 341 yesterday. We were the 5th case. All the cases before ours lasted 10 minutes each! THey all had lawyers, but the trustee was really digging. One person had 3 cars listed and listed the value on them as exactly what they owe. Trustee said this was fishy, and how could they be worth EXACTLY what they owe. Turns out the person didnt even look up the values. Trustee was very annoyed!

Anyway, we got up there. I almost passed out I was so nervous. Trustee went thru a list of about 10 questions and we were done! Ours was by far the fastest case. I was so relieved. We had our baby with and I kept thinking, "What am I going to do if she screams." The trustee was a very serious person. No pity there! lol

So now we wait till Jan.....

Ours is today. I am ready to have a nervous break-down. I wish I had some valium. I could not sleep last night. I can only hope ours goes as well as yours did.

It will be done before you know it!! It will be a big weight off your shoulders. Just think, tonight it will be all done and you can celebrate

Remember you have not been discharged yet...........
You still have to wait 60 days for objections from the creditors (and most of them don't).
So hold off celebrating till you get that "discharge" paper!!!

Your only halfway there and the fact that the 341 meeting went smoothly is a good sign in your favor.

Just be patient.

Well wouldn't you know it. If it can happen it will happen to me. The minute we sat down in front of the trustee she said it needed to be adjourned. It appears our previous lawyer messed up the paperwork and did not file it correctly. Our previous lawyer had kept us on a hook for 4 months and then on October 7th he tells me he is no longer practicing law (He was suspended for 6 months by the Bar Assoc.) Our new lawyer picked up where he left off so now playing the blame game. (Although he did get us filed on the 7th.) Our new hearing is scheduled for 12-15-05. The other people before us had adjournments until the end of January. I think once our new lawyer told the trustee who old lawyer was she took a little pity on us. At least the new one said he will not charge for anything extra. I guess we will have another month of uneasiness.

thompsoj, I know what you're going through with the anxiety. I want to encourage you to see your doctor if the anxiety is overbearing and disrupting your life. A week before our 341, I was a TOTAL mess. I couldn't sleep, I didn't want to eat, and I was constantly on the verge of throwing up. My doctor prescribed a non-addictive medication (Inderal) that took the edge off the anxiety and allowed me to breathe through that horrible week. Now that our 341 is done and we're just waiting for any curve balls, I still take it occasionally when I feel like I'm getting too worried.

This is a horribly stressful time, and there's no shame in getting help to handle it!

Sounds like you're better off w/out the former scuzball. Hang in there. Your re-scheduled 341 is only a week later than mine (I filed on 10/13...341 to be on 12/8.
A month ago, it seemed like 12/8 was an eternity away, now it's only half an eternity away and soon it will be time to get all anxious over the meeting.
