Reopening Chapter 7 to file Motion to Avoid Lien

Can anyone tell me how the process is handled when you "reopen" your bankruptcy? We need to file a motion to avoid a lien because we didn't know the lien was "perfected" at the time we filed, although we did list the creditor (an attorney for my husband's ex). We filed in Dec. 2004 and were a no asset Chapter 7 that was discharged in March 2005.

I understand we file a motion to reopen and then the motion to avoid the lien. Does that mean the entire bankruptcy is reopened? Do all the creditors get notified and do we have to start again or does this just involve the debt we want to file the motion for?

If anyone can explain the process, we would appreciate the information. We haven't talked to an attorney yet but want to be educated so we ask the right questions.

    Thank you in advance.
