I cannot begin to explain how releived I am now that the meeting is behind me. I know I now have to wait out my discharge....the trustee indicated it would come in 3-4 months!!
Anyway, so glad to have that part behind me now.
The meeting itself was nothing to be all stressed out about (I can say that now that it's done & over)!! I got there about 2 hours early....and driving nearly 1.5 hours to have my 2 exits closed and having to be detoured around the city it seemed. Good thing I allowed for PLENTY of extra time. Plus I wanted to sit it on a few cases before mine.
He asked everyone the usual question.... a few he asked more specific questions like 1 couple who owned 2 homes, 1 worth about $340k that was for sale and the other they live in worth $210. They also owned a Cadillac Escelade.... he drilled them for the longest of all the cases. Of course, this was the first one I watched -- boy was I worried at first. Then I realized that it was because of their situation because he wasn't like that with most of the other cases.
Many people were claiming BK for the 2nd time....some were previously in Chpt 13s but many were Chpt 7. I guess that really surprised me!!
Anyway, I think mine went pretty well. And my attorney confirmed my thoughts on our way out of the building.
Another side note that I picked up while listening to other cases..... the trustee requested certain document (titles, mortgage, 401k info, etc) from certain people prior to the meeting. I didn't receive any such request, but my lawyer did give me a list of documents to bring. He looked at some of them (titles and mortgage) but then gave everything back to me.
Now I am just waiting -- and will be checking Pacer on a daily basis!!
Oh, one more thing.... heard some lawyers chatting amongst themselves about the new laws.... doesn't sound like many have filed under the new laws yet. One lady lawyer said she was thinking about renewing her dental hygiene license!!
