water bill not in our name

We bought our house from my husbands mother, who bought the house from her mother, who bought the house from her mother (LOL!), and our water bill is still in grandma's name. We do have to list utilities in our petition correct? I'm assuming then that we should try and get the water account transfered over to us before we file? If we don't then we cannot claim our water utility as an expense??? Even though we've been paying it and have canceled checks to prove it???

I was kind of hoping to avoid having to pay some kind of deposit that some utilities charge people after they file for bk.

You don't have to have it in your name to claim as an expense if you have proof you pay it. My electric bill is in my dad's name and has been for 10 years, they never said anything about it.

You would only list them on the creditor matrix if you had past due account.

Oh wonderful! Thank you, that is great news! We cannot afford the $50deposit to transfer the account into our name right now so that is very good news.
